The Cao da Serra de Aires is a quick and alert medium size dog. Its long shaggy hair is without undercoat or wool. The Cao da Serra de Aires' coat serves as a protection against potential wounds and the burnings rays of the sun. With its monkey-like attitudes and looks, the Serra de Aires dog is often called "monkey dog" in Portugal. | |
| The Cao da Serra de Aires is an easy-going breed if you make sure this lively dog has enough daily exercise. Grooming is minimal since it only requires a good brushing weekly. The Serra de Aires dogs learn quickly and easily and they adapt well to an urban environment. These slightly boisterous sheepdogs like to please their masters and enjoy long walks with their families whom they always tend to herd, as their ancestors used to do while tending flocks. | |
